Overview

Sea2summit is returning to Panorama Mountain Village, B.C. for the eighth year with a three-day stage race Friday, July 7 -Sunday, July 9th, 2006. Back by popular demand is a one-day race Sunday, July 9, specially planned for those of you unable to race for three days or not quite ready to take on the three-day event.

Panorama Mountain Village is near the town of Invermere in the Rocky Mountains of southeastern British Columbia, Canada. It's a scenic 1.5-hour drive from Banff, Alberta and a 2.5-hour drive from Calgary -- the nearest major city and international airport. Vancouver is a nine-hour drive. If you're coming from Vancouver, turn south off Highway 1 at Golden onto Highway 95 toward Radium Hot Springs. If you're coming from Calgary, turn south off Highway 1 onto Highway 93 to Radium Hot Springs. Travel south for 14 km on Highway 93 or 95 to Invermere. The road to Panorama is 18 km west of Invermere.

Wherever you're coming from or going to, we recommend you stay until Monday to recover from fatigue and enjoy post-race socializing. The Mountain Resort of Panorama has a hot tub around every corner and there is lots to do for the entire family. Make this a weekend your family will remember. While you're racing, they can enjoy a multitude of activities and adventures co-ordinated by Panorama Mountain Village, such as swimming, arts and crafts, volleyball and hiking. Read more about it in this PDF document: Panorama Day Care/Kids Camp Programs.

Invermere is situated in the Columbia River Valley, otherwise known as "Adventure Valley." It's an outdoors enthusiast's paradise. The mighty Columbia River, which feeds and drains Lake Windermere, is more than 1,600-km long and visible from space. Extensive marshlands, intermingling channels and shallow lakes form an international bird sanctuary for migratory waterfowl. Elk, moose, cougars, black and grizzly bears, and mountain goats call this area home.
