Shore2ShoreOverviewDeep Cove, North Vancouver, Saturday, June 3rd, 2006 The 3rd annual Shore2Shore has moved to Deep Cove, the adventure race capital of Canada! The race will start with a paddle out of Deep Cove. You will paddle somewhere (to another shore), get out and find some checkpoints on foot. You will then paddle back to Deep Cove (maybe some stops along the way???), get out of your boat, and finish with a bike ride on some of your favourite trails on Mount Seymour! A salmon BBQ feast that is included in your race fee will follow in the afternoon right in Deep Cove. An exquisite local gourmet caterer called Tour de Feast will be cookin' up the eats! We are planning on pulling out all the fun stuff for this race - so be prepared for some great mystery surprises along the way. Besides a more convenient location, we have drastically improved the mountain bike section from last year. Overwhelmingly people felt that the biking on Cypress Mountain last year was a bit too technical (okay, a lot technical!) so our goal has been to put together the best all around xc ride possible on Mount Seymour - your favourite xc mountain biking destination on the Shore. By moving the race to Deep Cove we have minimized the risk of cancelling the paddle section (due to high waves) significantly. Something else that is really exciting is that there will be a SHORT COURSE designed for first time adventure racers. With this year's Shore2Shore you will not need a support person at all. Instead, your supportive family and friends can hang out and cheer for you in beautiful Deep Cove at the transition area. This is a self-sufficient adventure race, meaning anything you need while racing - including food, clothing and footwear - must be carried by you during the race. There will be first aid stations marked on the race map and no water stations along the way. Specific time lines and race details will be available in a downloadable pdf racer package a week to 2 weeks prior to race day with all the nitty-gritty details that you have come to love about adventure racing. YOU WILL NOT BE GIVEN THE FINAL RACE ROUTE UNTIL PACKAGE PICK UP ON FRIDAY JUNE 2ND. Distances / DisciplinesRegular Course - 40-50km total: 8-10km Paddle, 8-10km Trek, 24-30km bike Short Course* 25 km total: 5km Paddle, 5km Trek, 15km bike *The Short Course is recommended for beginners only.
